Understanding Your Licensing Options
Creative Commons Licenses
Creative Commons is a globally recognized nonprofit organization that offers a standardized way to grant public permission to share and use creative work. By applying a Creative Commons license to your files, you specify the freedoms and limitations others have in using your work. This clarity benefits both creators and users, facilitating the sharing and use of copyrighted material in a legal and straightforward manner.
The Six License Types
Creative Commons offers six main license types, ranging from the most permissive (allowing for both commercial use and modifications) to the most restrictive (only allowing others to download your works and share them with others as long as they credit you, but they can’t change them in any way or use them commercially). Additionally, the CC0 Public Domain Dedication allows creators to waive all rights and place a work in the public domain.

Universal Data License (UDL)
The Universal Data License is specifically designed for content stored on public permissionless blockchain networks. It is a legal framework that outlines the terms of use for your content, addressing the unique considerations of blockchain-based storage. The UDL is an excellent choice for users who wish to leverage the security and transparency of blockchain technology for their content.
